JJ Spaun Leans on LAB in US Open Victory at Oakmont

JJ Spaun started Father’s Day with a 3am run to the pharmacy because his daughter was sick. He finished the day as the 2025 US Open champion on Oakmont’s legendary and treacherous greens. He was four shots back at the turn on Sunday, partly because of a horrendous break on the second hole when his wedge shot struck the flag and spun back off the green and down the fairway.
He battled bad lies, bad weather, major pressure and a 40 on the front nine, but somehow kept his composure through it all. Over the final seven holes, Spaun made more than 136 feet of putts, including a curling 64-footer on the 72nd hole (the longest putt of the week by anyone in the field) to seal his first major. When it was all said and done, he was the only player to finish the U.S. Open under par.
While the world watched, his L.A.B. Golf DF3 putter stayed square through nerves, bad breaks, and brutal conditions. After the win, he said he never knew what his ceiling was. The truth is, most golfers don’t. But when you stop fighting your putter, the ceiling goes higher.
