Triggering the start of your swing is different from the trigger that starts your pre-shot routine, but I'll cover that in more detail as the series continues. You are right, however. Most players have some small move to start their back swing. Many use a slight forward press or even a knee bend towards the target like Gary Player does. Jack Nicklaus tilts his head slightly to the right, and most other players have some small body movement to initiate the swing. You just have to find something that works best for you. In the next part of the Mental Golf Minute, I'll be talking about visualization - keep a look out for the next part sometime next week or subscribe to get updates as they come out!

I am looking to establish a physical "trigger" mechanism to actually begin the golf swing (start the take away). Every good golfer I've watched has this "tick" or "trigger". I can't seem to get into a physical routine to cut off any thinking while standing over the ball and the actual commencement of my swing (during which, I assume, there should be no thought whatsoever). Any suggestions here? Thanks.

My trigger is pulling a club from the bag. That puts me in "go mode" for the shot at hand.
